Me: *Answer the phone call "Hai"
Postman: "Moshi moshi, tankyubin desu"
Me, not remembering if I bought anything this week or aware that there is any demo unit coming along my way: "Hai?"

That's pretty much how I received my EST 112 unit this Tuesday, apparently it was shipped a while ago but I wasn't aware of it ongoing its journey. Though I understand this is due to the shipping issue rather than DUNU themselves

Just a small story that I wanted to vent out in this Lounge since I was having a good sleep until the Postman decided to interrupt my sleep at 8:45 in the morning and I am still a bit bitter about it.
But anyway, let's back to the main topic, like every "First impression" post, this is just a brief note after 30 - 40 mins of listening to it on the day I received the IEM, I haven't listened to it since due to the upcoming review. This also seem to be DUNU's first take on the Tribrid game also, so let's see how it goes.

Before going into the post, if you are new, please read this before having any comments regarding my writing or point of view‌.

Information:

The EST 112 unit was kindly provided by DUNU in exchange for my honest review.

First impressions:

  • Mild V-Shaped signature, admittedly slightly honky to my ears, but it's not really bad
  • Bass is decent, though admittedly not as good as the DUNU DK-3001 Pro transient wise
  • I am a bit mixed about the treble on first hand actually, it's not like its badly handled, more like... needs more refinement?
    • The reason why I said it's not badly handled is because I can hear some upper-treble, ergo, it's well extended (?)
    • Something something AYA Siren treble timbre though, but I will address this later
  • Potential upgrade for people who likes the Tin Hifi T4 imo
DUNU EST 112 vs Tin Hifi T4 - Comparison graph was generated from the Graph Comparison Tool
As a side note, Antdroid @ AudioDiscourse has now updated his curve to cover to 20kHz range, so I have update the graph comparison tool accordingly ;), check it out.

Review should be out next week hopefully, since there is something on the horizon that I plan to cover.

As usual, here is my invitation to my Discord server. Whether you want to banter, request or be weeb, feel free to join
